New Delhi: India-Bangladesh relations are very strong

Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal has said that India-Bangladesh relations are “very strong" and will continue to be so.

He was replying to a question on the opposition leaders’ “India out campaign” in Bangladesh at the daily briefing on Thursday in New Delhi.

“India-Bangladesh relations are very strong. We have a very comprehensive partnership that spans across sectors from economy to trade, investment, development cooperation, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges,” he said.

“You name any human endeavour; it is part and parcel of India-Bangladesh relations. That is how vibrant that partnership is, and it will continue to be so,” he asserted.

India stood by the government in holding the last general elections following the constitutional obligation, while the opposition BNP boycotted the polls, demanding an interim government to oversee the votes.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will make her first bilateral visit to New Delhi after the Indian general elections, Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said.
