Shab-e-Barat: Exports, imports suspended at Hili land port

Import and export activities between India and Bangladesh through Hili land port in Dinajpur were suspended on Monday on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat.

However, cross-border travel was open through the immigration checkpost of the land port.

Hili Land Port Importer-Exporter Group President Harun Ur Rashid said: “The Muslim community celebrated the holy Shab-e-Barat on Sunday night. Due to this, there is a public holiday today (Monday), causing all customs departments to be closed and thereby halting import and export activities between the two countries through Hili land port since this morning.”

“All operations inside the port, including the unloading and delivery of goods from trucks, are suspended. Activities will resume starting Tuesday morning after the holiday,” he added.

Sheikh Ashraful, the person in charge of immigration at the port, said: “The immigration process is running as usual. Passport holders can travel daily from 9am to 6:30pm.
