Jonaki by Nasreen Zamir opens first standalone store in Dhaka

Jonaki by Nasreen Zamir, a lifestyle brand for fragrances and beauty products, has opened its first standalone store in Dhaka.

EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Charles Whiteley and Ambassador-at-large Mohammad Ziauddin opened the store at the Intercontinental Hotel on Saturday.

Nasreen Zamir is the honorary consul of Luxembourg to Bangladesh. She is also an interior designer, artist and an entrepreneur by profession.

Jonaki fragrance and beauty products is the brainchild of Nasreen Zamir. The brand is a tribute Nasreen Zamir offers to the natural beauty of Bangladesh. Jonaki is the story of light – the light of the firefly that illuminates the world.

Born in Chittagong, Jonaki enchanted her childhood as she grew up with nature and memories of beautiful Bengali flowers.

The vision of Jonaki is to bring a sustainable solution and create harmony between nature and the ecological system.

The brand name Jonaki was selected by Nasreen Zamir because it evokes youthfulness, freedom of individuality, expressing happiness and confidence in one’s own personality and creativity.

“I was excited to open my own Flagship store but today I celebrate “women in business” and the journey of women entrepreneurs and professionals in their diverse fields. Very proud of their journey,” she said at the event.

“This is the first standalone Jonaki Flagship store inside Dhaka. Our products are sold at many stores in Dhaka but not any store outside Dhaka. But yes, we plan to open in Chittagong,” she said.

“We launched the Jonaki fragrance in February 2020 and Covid hit the world. We survived. Bangladesh has 16 million people and we hope to reach at least 100,000 to make Jonaki fly.

“Today we included beauty products attar and also highlighted the Bangladeshi textiles as part of our Lifestyle brand. We must excel in Bangladesh first then focus on the global platform,” she said about her product which is “designed in Bangladesh, inspired by France and made in Malaysia”.

Her husband, former ambassador Mohammad Zamir, was also present at the event.
