Bangladesh, Canada explore future health sector collaboration

Canadian High Commissioner Dr Lilly Nicholls called on Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen on Thursday and explored areas of future partnership in strengthening health services in Bangladesh.

They had a “productive first meeting”, the Canadian High Commission said.

“They discussed Canada’s support for the empowerment of women in the nursing sector and efforts to advance and improve sexual and reproductive health and rights”.

Discussions also highlighted Canada’s dedicated and longstanding support for Bangladeshi institutions such as the iccdr,b, which have developed life-saving health solutions, the High Commission said.

“High Commissioner Nicholls and Minister Samanta Lal Sen identified Bangladesh’s priorities in the health sector and explored areas for future partnership in strengthening health services for Bangladeshis, and especially for women and girls.”
