The United States will take different steps to deepen its ties with Bangladesh.
Vedant Patel, principal deputy spokesperson of the US State Department, made the comment at the daily briefing on Monday in Washington while replying to a question.
After the general elections held on January 7, the State Department in its statement said that the US is looking ahead to partnering with Bangladesh to advance shared vision, also a free and open Indo-Pacific area, region.
He was asked what specific action is the US considering to deepen its partnership with Bangladesh.
“There are a number of steps that we have and will continue to take when it comes to deepening our partnership with Bangladesh. You’ve heard me say it here before that last year was the anniversary of our diplomatic relations with Bangladesh, and there continue to be a number of areas – specifically in addressing climate cooperation, security cooperation – where we believe that there is opportunity,” Patel replied.
“Of course, through that there – we have the opportunity to also engage with non-government actors as well, which we believe is also key and critical to deepening this relationship also.”
