Jordan-Bangladesh Friendship Association was launched in Amman on Thursday.
Foreign Secretary Ambassador Masud Bin Momen was present at the launching event as the chief guest.
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Jordan Nahida Sobhan, members of the association, members of Jordanian civil society, intellectuals and media personalities, were also present, said a statement.
During the launch, the foreign secretary expressed optimism about the association's role, mentioning that its members, with their influence, would complement government efforts to enhance bilateral relations and increase people-to-people contact between Bangladesh and Jordan.
He extended an invitation to the association to visit Bangladesh, urging them to gain a deeper understanding of the country's recent development journey under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Such knowledge, he added, would be valuable in shaping the association's future course of action and identifying new areas of cooperation.
The association comprises members from various sectors, including Jordanian elites, academicians, doctors, businesspeople, poets, and journalists. Sheikh Dr Ayman Odeh Al-Badawa, a well-known Jordanian tribal leader, renowned businessman, philanthropist, and experienced UN peacekeeper and conflict resolution expert, assumes the role of the Association's President.
Ambassador Nahida Sobhan, in her speech, underscored the significance of the association's establishment this year, coinciding with the Golden Jubilee of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Jordan.
President of the Association Dr Badawa highlighted the development of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He emphasized that the launch of the Association marks a new era in bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Jordan.
