FM Momen recalls 9/11, urges vigilance against terrorism

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has recalled the 9/11 Twin Tower devastation with sadness.

A total of 2,988 innocent people lost their lives in the attack, of which six were from Bangladesh and three were from his own district, Sylhet, he said in a statement.

"While we pray for their salvation, we hope that such will never reoccur again. We are pleased that our recent discussion with the US leadership is very encouraging,” reads the statement.

"It has taken many steps to end terrorism. In Bangladesh, due to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's zero-tolerance policy to terrorism, there have not been any bomb blasts, grenade attacks, and fear of deaths due to terrorist attacks,” it adds.

The minister emphasized the importance of united efforts to prevent terrorism and radicalism from resurging as they did between 2001 and 2006.
