Quader: EU’s call for fair polls aligns with Awami League’s aim

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said the European Union (EU) seeks free, fair, and peaceful polls, a commitment that aligns with the aims of the party.

Obaidul Quader highlighted that the EU delegation emphasized the importance of conducting elections in accordance with the Constitution of Bangladesh, sovereignty, and legal system. 

He made these remarks following a meeting between the Awami League and the visiting EU delegation in Dhaka on Saturday.

Obaidul Quader further mentioned that the delegation expressed their confidence in the Awami League's commitment to reforming the electoral system.

He clarified that there were no talks about dialogue, caretaker government, parliament dissolution, or the prime minister's resignation.

Like in other countries of the world, he said, the election-time government will be formed in Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

There is no question of dissolution of parliament and the resignation of the government as well as the Prime Minister, he mentioned.

Led by Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, the nine members of the delegation included Awami League Advisory Council member and former ambassador Muhammad Zamir Uddin.
