Bangladeshi workers have officially started to go to Malaysia from Tuesday.
A group of 30 workers went to Kuala Lumpur on a US Bangla flight at 10:30 am.
These workers have been sent by the government organization BOESL to work in the plantation sector as part of its sending a total of 10,000 workers from Bangladesh at a free of cost.
It is known that although there is a demand for 1000 workers, three flights will initially go to Malaysia, reports Bangla Tribune.
Besides, a total of 60 workers will go to Malaysia in two flights on Wednesday and Thursday.
According to sources, there is a demand for workers to work in palm plantations and tea plantations in Malaysia.
Managing director Mallick Anwar Hossain of the government agency BOESL, was present at the airport to see off the workers.
According to the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment, It has been informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to send around 10,000 workers from Bangladesh to different sectors of Malaysia through BOESL under the 'Special One-off Recruitment Project'.
Already, there is a demand of 1,000 workers in six companies in Malaysia.
A total of 700 workers have been prepared by recruiting from the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) database and by collecting a list of workers through job fairs in various districts.
The cost of sending workers through BOESL under the 'Special One-off Recruitment Project' is around Tk 46,000.
