Body of Bangladeshi tourist killed in India road crash to be brought back home

The body of a youth who was killed in a road accident while visiting India’s Goa with his friends will reach Bangladesh via Mumbai, officials and family members have said.

The relatives of the deceased, Naimur Rahman, left for Benapole Land Port on Thursday morning to receive the body.

Naimur Rahman hails from Fatullah area of Narayanganj,

“It will take some time for the body to arrive,” said Nazmul Uddin Sarvi, brother-in-law of the deceased.

On March 14, Naimur was killed in a road accident in Goa. Three others were injured in the same incident, all Naimur’s friends, while going for a walk together.

The injured are Taihan Tabassir Soad, 25, son of Fatullah Union Chairman Khandaker Lutfar Rahman Swapan, and Ali Akram Akib, 26, and Ali Arman Adib, 22, sons of late Zahirul Alam, owner of Amir Ali Super Market near Fatullah Thana gate.

After the autopsy at Goa Medical College Hospital, Soad is returning home with Naimur’s dead body.

Soad's father Lutfar Rahman said: "Soad has left for Bangladesh. He is coming with Adib and the body. They are currently near Mumbai. Adib will be admitted to a Mumbai hospital for treatment and Soad will reach home by the night.”

However, Akib became detached from the others after the incident.

Regarding Akib's disappearance, he said: "Akib has been missing since the accident. The car was driven that night with Akib's driving license. He has an international driving license. He may have fled after the accident out of fear.”

On the other hand, Akib and Adib's mother Delwara Alam said: "Akib is undergoing treatment. He lost consciousness when he got out of the car after the accident. After regaining consciousness, he could not find his mobile phone. Thus, he could not contact anyone.

“He is now being treated at a hospital. His eyes and cheeks were injured. He was contacted over the phone last night (Wednesday). We will see them soon.”
