President Shahabuddin off to Saudi Arabia for Hajj

President Mohammed Shahabuddin has left Dhaka for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on a 10-day visit to perform the holy hajj as a royal guest of the Saudi government.

A VVIP aircraft of Biman carrying the president along with his spouse, Dr Rebecca Sultana, and entourage left Hazrat Shahjalal Internal Airport at 2:30pm on Friday. 

Apart from his family members, PM's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman, Bangabhaban secretaries and senior officials concerned are accompanying the president on his visit to Saudi Arabia.

On his arrival at Jeddah airport at about 6:30pm (Bangladesh time), the president will be received by Makkah Region Deputy Governor Prince Badr bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Bangladesh Ambassador to KSA Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary and embassy officials.

According to the schedule, the head of state will stay at Al Safa Royal Palace in Makkah.

After performing all hajj rituals, President Shahabuddin will go to Madinah to visit (ziyarat) the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) on July 1.

The president is then scheduled to leave for Dhaka on July 2 on a VVIP aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
