Momen: RAB sanctions minor issue in Bangladesh-US relations

The United States wants to put an end to all misunderstandings and wants to maintain good relations with Bangladesh, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has said.

“Dhaka-Washington ties are multi-dimensional, and the RAB sanctions are a minor issue. The American delegation discussed these matters with the prime minister,” the minister told reporters at an event in Sylhet on Thursday.

“The US wants to work with Bangladesh. China also wants to take advantage of all the possibilities that Bangladesh offers to improve relations.”

Washington would provide the necessary support to Dhaka to resolve the Rohingya crisis, Momen said.

Bangladesh had called on several countries, including the US, to take in Rohingya refugees and many of them had given a positive response, he added.

“Diplomats from several countries, including India's foreign secretary, have pledged to work together with Bangladesh [on this issue],” the foreign minister told the media.
