Pakistan should be ashamed of itself for not apologizing for the atrocities it committed against Bengalis in 1971, says Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen .
The minister’s remarks on Saturday while speaking to the media at an event at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka to mark the country’s Independence Day.

Pakistan may once again commit wrongful acts if it does not realize its mistake, added Momen.
The minister said he believes Pakistan’s next generation will come forward and apologize for their ancestor’s crimes in 1971.
Bilateral relations between the two South Asian countries have remained frosty since Pakistan forces based in West Pakistan launched a planned military operation to restrain the Bengali nationalist movement.
Bangladesh has been pressing Pakistan to apologize for the genocide in 1971 for some time now.
The occupation army showed no reluctance in butchering millions of their fellow citizens over a nine-month period to subdue a struggle for liberation in its then eastern wing.
