Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed profound shock and sorrow at the casualties in the China plane crash.
"I am deeply saddened by the news of the worst tragic aircraft crash of China Eastern Airlines on March 21 in South China with 132 people on board. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the catastrophe," she said.
The prime minister said this in a condolence message signed on Tuesday addressed to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
"On behalf of the people and the government of Bangladesh and on my own behalf, I convey my profound condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family members," she said.
At this time of grief, the premier said: "We stand with our national solidarity by the government and the people of China, our trusted and strategic partner, as they face the situation with courage and fortitude."
