An Awami League delegation is scheduled to visit China on September 3 as part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), signed on March 22, 2018 to boost cooperation between the two political parties.
A 20-member delegation of the ruling party has been invited by the Communist Party of China.
Awami League presidium member Matin Khasru will lead the delegation; the rest of the members are yet to be confirmed, Matin Khasru said.
During the visit, the Awami League delegates are scheduled to meet with high-profile politicians of China, and the top brass of the Communist Party.
Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, several Awami League leaders have described the trip as a courtesy tour between the two political parties.
On October 28, 2018 a team of Awami League, led by presidium member Lt Col (retd) Faruq Khan visited China, while a three-member team led by Muhammad Zamir visited China on November 30, 2017.
Before these meetings, a 19-member team led by Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Faruq Khan visited China on September 18, 2017.
