Housing minister to attend UN-Habitat Assembly in Nairobi

Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim is going to attend the first session of the United Nations-Human Settlement Programme (UN-Habitat) Assembly – the highest-level decision-making body on sustainable urbanization and human settlements. 

The minister is scheduled to leave Dhaka for Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, on Saturday night.

A week-long global urbanization meeting is set to kick-off in Nairobi on May 27 and last till May 31. Four Heads of State, over 40 ministers, and high-level representatives from 193 member nations—including Bangladesh—are expected to attend.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, the minister will lead a team of delegates from Bangladesh during that session. He is expected to talk about the Rohingya issue and also about Bangladesh's stance with regard to different international issues on urban development.
