Indian army chief likely to visit Dhaka March 30

Ahead of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s New Delhi visit, Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on March 30 on a two-day visit. The visit is aimed at strengthening defence and security cooperation between the two countries, reports the Press Trust of India. He is likely to hold talks with top brass of defence and security establishment of Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit India on April 8-10 at the invitation of her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi. She will be hosted by President Pranab Mukherjee at the presidential residence. Both India and Bangladesh are confident that various important and long-standing issues between the countries may be resolved during the visit. In November last year, Indian Defence Minister Manohar Gopalkrishna Prabhu Parrikar visited Dhaka with an 11 member delegation, in the highest profile defence visit to the country in 45 years.
