The European Union (EU) delegation to Bangladesh has offered its heartfelt condolences to all affected by the Chawkbazar fire; that has left 69 victims dead, to date.
In a statement issued by the UN delegate on Tuesday, Konstantinos Vardakis, Chargé d'Affaires (ad interim) of the EU in Bangladesh offered the EU's sympathies to everyone affected by the fire.
In the message, he stated: "The EU Delegation expresses its heartfelt condolences for all those affected by the fire which occurred at Old Dhaka's Chawkbazar on 20 February.
"Our thoughts are with the Government and people of Bangladesh as well as with the bereaved families and friends of the victims during such a difficult time."

Konstantinos Vardakis furthered: "The EU Delegation wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured in the incident."
On the night of February 20, 67 people were killed—and 41 others injured—in a devastating fire that raged through several buildings on Nandakumar Dutta Road and Churihatta Shahi Mosque Road, of Chawkbazar.
Two more victims of the fire died while receiving treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Monday night and early Tuesday, raising the death toll to 69 people.
