Saida Tasneem made new Bangladesh envoy to UK

The government has appointed Saida Muna Tasneem, currently serving as the country’s ambassador to Thailand, as Bangladesh's new high commissioner to the United Kingdom.

She will be replaced by Md Nazmul Quaunine, who is the currentBangladesh high commissioner to the UK.

A career diplomat, Saida belongs to the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs Cadre, said the Foreign Ministry on Monday, reports UNB.

Throughout her career, Saida served in the Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York and the Bangladesh High Commission in London in various capacities.

She also served as the director general for the UN and the External Publicity wings of the Foreign Ministry.

Saida obtained her BSc (Engineering) degree from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet), Dhaka in 1988.She also did her MSc in Public Policy and Management from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.

Nazmul Quaunine is also a career foreign service officer belonging to the 1985 batch of BCS Foreign Affairs Cadre.

In his career, Nazmul earlier served as the Bangladesh envoy to Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates and also in various capacities in Bangladesh missions in London, Islamabad, Washington, Kolkata and Geneva.

He also served as the director general in charge of Europe and External Publicity wings, said the Foreign Ministry.

Nazmul graduated from Dhaka Medical College. After joining the service, he also undertook a postgraduate training on diplomatic studies at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland as well as an Executive Training Course at the South Asian Center for Strategic Studies, Washington DC.
