Bangladesh PM’s media adviser proposes introduction of uniform visas, currencies

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Media Affairs Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury has stressed upon the need of introducing uniform visas and currencies for India and Bangladesh. He made the statement in a program organized by Tripura’s Ishwar Pathshala and Indo-Bangla Friendship Committee at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala. “We [India and Bangladesh] need uniform visas and currencies in similitude with the European Union,” Iqbal Sobhan said. He also mentioned the role of Tripura in Bangladesh’s Liberation War. “Sometimes, I notice that efforts are being made to breach the bond between India and Bangladesh. The camaraderie between these two countries will remain as long as the history of our liberation is alive,” he added. On behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he also thanked the Government of Tripura for the Indo-Bangla Maitree Udayn (Friendship Park) at Chottakhola. Tripura’s Sports Minister Sahid Chowdhury, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr Prafullajit Sinha and Tripura Legislative Assembly’s Deputy Speaker Pabitra Kar, among others, were present in the program. It should be noted that the Ishwar Pathshala has been modeled on the institution in Comilla and sponsored by its past pupils.
