BGB-BSF DG-level border conference begins

A director general (DG)-level border conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) has begun in New Delhi.
The six-day long conference has started on Monday at 9am at the BSF headquarter. The BGB DG Major General Abul Hossain will attend a courtesy meeting with Indian home minister and home secretary on the same day.
A 24-member BGB delegation led by Major General Abul Hossain has gone to India where they will meet a 26-member Indian delegation led by Shri KK Sharma.
According to a press release, the delegations will discuss the detention, shooting, killing, trafficking, illegal drug dealing, illegal arms and ammunition dealing issue at the border.
The Indian mobile network coverage in Bangladesh territory and development works within 150 yards of international border will also be discussed in the conference.
The two counterparts are also expected to sign a Joint Record of Discussions (JRD) of the conference on October 6.
In addition, a friendly handball tournament between two forces will be held on October 5.
The Bangladeshi delegation includes BGB regional commanders, senior officials from its headquarter, and officials from the Ministry of Home and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Joint River Commission, Department of Narcotics Control, Survey of Bangladesh and the Department of Land Record and Surveys.
The Indian team includes senior officials of the BSF headquarters, Inspector General of Frontier, and officials from the Ministry of Home, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Investigation Agency, Narcotics Control Bureau, Survey of India and Joint River Commission.
