BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia attended the Armed Forces Day ceremony at Senakunja on Thursday.
Her motorcade departed from her Gulshan residence, Feroza, around 3:30pm, said BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan.
According to party sources, Khaleda Zia was accompanied by family members, including the wife of her late younger son, Arafat Rahman Koko.
The invitation to attend the event was extended to the BNP chairperson by Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lt Gen Mizanur Rahman Shamim and Principal Staff Officer (PSO) Lt Gen ASM Kamrul Ahsan during a meeting at her residence on Tuesday night.
Speaking about the invitation, BNP Standing Committee Member and Khaleda Zia's personal physician, Prof AZM Zahid Hossain, said: “They personally visited the former prime minister to deliver the invitation.”
Prominent figures, including Dr Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser of Senakunja, are also expected to attend the event.
