Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser of the interim government, has congratulated Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), for achieving success in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
In a message on Saturday, the chief adviser praised Nahid Islam for leading NCP’s courageous and confident participation in the 13th parliamentary election.
“As a young political party born just a year ago in the context of the 2024 student-led uprising, contesting 30 seats, winning six, and mounting strong and respectable campaigns in several others is an extraordinary achievement. This success is not just about election statistics; it reflects the self-confidence, aspirations, and democratic spirit of the younger generation,” he said.
He praised Nahid Islam’s leadership and courage during the turbulent 2024 movement, noting that the sacrifices of him and his colleagues earned deep national gratitude.
Dr Yunus said working with Nahid Islam on the Advisory Council was valuable, praising his competence, knowledge, and principled approach.
He emphasized that democracy thrives with new voices and ideas, noting NCP’s early success shows youth readiness to trust principled politics, which the party must now uphold.
He told Nahid Islam that, through parliamentary representation, NCP has a historic chance to voice people’s hopes and strengthen democracy responsibly under his leadership.
He added: “Today’s achievement signals the greater responsibilities of tomorrow. Moving from struggle to the mainstream of politics should preserve ideals and values—that is our collective hope.”
The chief adviser concluded by wishing Nahid Islam good health, longevity, and overall well-being.
