BNP wins five of six seats in Noakhali, NCP takes one

BNP candidates have won five of the six parliamentary constituencies in Noakhali district, while the remaining seat went to a candidate from the National Citizen Party (NCP), nominated by the 11-party electoral alliance.

Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Muhammad Shafiqul Islam announced the results on Thursday night.

The BNP winners are AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon in Noakhali-1 (Chatkhil and part of Sonaimuri), Zainul Abdin Faruk in Noakhali-2 (Senbag and part of Sonaimuri), Barkat Ullah Bulu in Noakhali-3 (Begumganj), Shahjahan in Noakhali-4 (Sadar and Subarnachar), and Mohammad Fakhrul Islam in Noakhali-5 (parts of Companiganj, Kabirhat and Sadar).

In Noakhali-6 (Hatia), NCP senior joint chief coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud was declared elected.

In Noakhali-1, AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon secured 126,833 votes, defeating Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Mohammad Sayef Ullah, who received 98,036 votes.

In Noakhali-2, Zainul Abdin Faruk won with 83,992 votes, while NCP candidate Sultan Muhammad Zakaria secured 67,054 votes.

In Noakhali-3, Barkat Ullah Bulu received 141,031 votes, defeating Jamaat candidate Md Borhan Uddin, who got 123,941 votes.

In Noakhali-4, Shahjahan secured 219,182 votes against Jamaat candidate Ishaq Khandaker’s 148,989 votes — the highest winning margin in the district at 70,193 votes.

In Noakhali-5, Mohammad Fakhrul Islam won with 147,808 votes, while Jamaat candidate Belayet Hossain received 120,453 votes.

In Noakhali-6, Abdul Hannan Masud of the NCP secured 91,899 votes, defeating BNP candidate Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, who received 64,421 votes.

Among the six constituencies, Zainul Abdin Faruk recorded the narrowest victory margin, winning Noakhali-2 by 16,938 votes.
