Rumeen Farhana leads in Brahmanbaria-2

Independent candidate Rumeen Farhana is leading in the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, which covers Sarail, Ashuganj, and part of Bijoynagar.

As of 8:24pm, Farhana has received 9,648 votes from 12 polling centres, while her closest rival, BNP-alliance candidate Maulana Junaid Al Habib, vice-chairman of the central committee of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh, has secured 6,745 votes.

The constituency has a total of 151 polling centres.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) expelled nine senior leaders, including Barrister Rumeen Farhana, on allegations of involvement in activities contrary to party discipline in December, last year.

She was expelled from all party posts at every level, including her primary membership, based on specific allegations of carrying out organizational activities in defiance of party decisions.
