Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner and Detective Branch (DB) chief Mohammad Harunor Rashid said that barring a few incidents, polling for the 12th national parliamentary election was proceeding smoothly and no major problems were reported.
He said this to the media after casting his vote at the Agargaon Government College of Music polling centre in the capital.
Rashid also said that scattered incidents may have been reported, as there are numerous centres across the country, including Dhaka.

The DB chief said that police, DB police, and other law and order agencies are everywhere. Wherever the incidence occurs, law enforcement will arrive at the spot immediately.
Despite BNP's hartal, there is a festive atmosphere as people are voting. Minor incidents can happen in elections. However, the election is fair and unbiased in general, he added.
