Voters brave fog, cold as balloting begins across Bangladesh

Queues of voters have been seen outside polling stations since balloting for 299 constituencies began at 8am on Sunday across Bangladesh.

Our correspondents, visiting polling centres across the country, found a thin presence of voters.

However, election officers said that the voter turnout will increase as the day progresses.

In Faridupur, people were seen standing outside the polling station of the Sajeda Kabiruddin Govt Primary School.

Meanwhile, the presence of voters was low at the polling stations of Thakurgaon amid dense fog and severe cold.

The voting for the 12th national parliament election has started since 8am on Sunday.
