Bangladesh Workers' Party President Rashed Khan Menon has said sabotage cannot thwart the election.
“In 2014, the BNP and Jamaat could not prevent the election despite vandalism and arsons. They will not be successful this time either,” Memon said in a statement to the media on Saturday.
The Bangladesh Workers’ Party president and General Secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha expressed their extreme sorrow, outrage and condemnation at Friday’s fire on the Benapole Express in Gopibagh, which claimed four lives.
They said miscreants attempted to thwart the polls by setting citizens on fire in an abhorrent manner and demanded that the offenders be taken into custody and given severe punishment.
They conveyed their condolences and sympathies to the victims of the incident.
Menon urged people to cast their vote and said: “The BNP and Jamaat are claiming that they will boycott the election or not cooperate, but their sabotage plot has been exposed.”
