Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has said people who provide information on election saboteurs will receive rewards ranging from Tk20,000 to Tk1 lakh, and their identity will be kept confidential.
Law enforcement agencies are capable of thwarting any subversive activities or anti-election efforts, the police chief said at a press briefing after meeting with law enforcement officials in Khulna division at the Jessore superintendent of police’s office on Tuesday.
The IGP said: "Law enforcement agencies are ready to deal with any situation to make the election fair and will be on the ground constantly to ensure that people can cast their votes smoothly. To ensure that minorities, women and the elderly can easily access the polling centres, special preparations will be made."
Each grievance expressed by candidates is being taken into consideration to create a level playing field for the election, he said, adding that risky centres are being identified.
