The Electoral Inquiry Committee served show-cause notices to three upazila parishad chairmen in the Comilla-6 constituency on Monday for violations of the electoral code of conduct.
They are- Amratoli Union Parishad Chairman Kazi Md Mozammel Haque, Pachthubi Upazila Parishad Chairman Hassan Rafi Razu, and Jagannathpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Mamunur Rashid Mamun.
Joint District & Sessions Judge Md Sirajuddin Iqbal, chairman of the Electoral Inquiry Committee, sent the three separate show-cause notices.
The notices said that the independent candidate with the Eagle symbol in Comilla- 6 (Sadar) constituency, Anjum Sultana Sima, had alleged that the three accused had withheld allowance cards of some voters and threatened not to return them until they vote for the Boat.
The accused candidates were asked to appear before the Land Survey Tribunal Comilla on January 2 with suitable evidence as to why a report with recommendations against them should not be sent to the Election Commission.
