Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General (DG) Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan has assured maximum security for voters at polling stations nationwide ahead of the January 7 election.

He said that the BGB will work with professionalism to maintain law and order during the election.

Nazmul Hasan said this while talking to reporters after visiting a BGB base camp set up on the occasion of electoral deployment at the GEC Convention Centre in Chittagong on Saturday.

The BGB DG said the paramilitary force will be vigilant along with other law-enforcing agencies to prevent any sabotage before, during, and after the election.

He also said that the BGB will be deployed as a mobile striking force from December 29 to January 10 so that no violence occurs before, during, or after the election, and they will work to ensure a fair environment for the election.

BGB will also be active to ensure that voters can come to the polling centers and exercise their voting rights without any hindrance, he said, adding that their dog squad will be used if necessary to prevent sabotage.

Before talking to the reporters, the BGB DG visited the election base camp of Chittagong in the Anwara Riverview Community Centre and the GEC Convention Centre.
