EC Habib: Election officials will lose jobs if irregularities take place

Election Commissioner Md Ahsan Habib Khan said election officials will lose their jobs if irregularities take place during the upcoming national election.

"Do not allow the misguided, overzealous, and terrorists any opportunity to disrupt the elections. Any irregularity will result in loss of job. If there's an attempt to take over a polling centre, close it down and leave the place. If needed, the voting can be arranged later," the EC said.

He made these remarks on Saturday as the chief guest at a training workshop for election officers in Manirampur, Jessore, in preparation for the upcoming elections.

The EC further said: "Arrangements must be made for voters to vote according to their preference. Various complaints will arise regarding the vote. Both true and false complaints will be investigated. Action will also be taken against those who make false complaints."

He added: "Foreigners are watching our country. No one from outside can solve our problems. We have to solve our own problems."

During the two-day workshop, around 2,700 polling officers from Manirampur upazila will receive training.
