Menon: BNP-Jamaat plotting to sabotage polls

Bangladesh Worker’s Party President Rashed Khan Menon said the BNP-Jamaat coalition and their allies have been plotting to sabotage the election from the beginning.

“The West, notably the United States, applies sanctions and imposes visa policies in order to organize this election in their own way,” Menon said while addressing the Awami League's election rally at Bangabandhu Udyan in Barisal on Friday.

He said their goal was to oust Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and establish an unconstitutional and unstable government. So, they may establish their goals in the region, including establishing a base in the Bay of Bengal.

Menon said: “We must come forward to ensure the election's success. The claim that elections are non-participatory is false. People will participate in the election. My constituency has turned into a festival.”

“Awami League President Sheikh Hasina nominated me for my home district. I commit to deliver the gift of triumph in this area, he added.

The 12th national polls is scheduled to be held on January 7.
