Awami League activists and supporters were flocking to the party’s rally venue in Barisal on Friday morning to hear party chief Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s address later in the day, with local leaders anticipating a massive turnout of nearly one million people.
Sheikh Hasina and her entourage started for Barisal from Ganabhaban in Dhaka at 9am to join the rally at Bangabandhu Uddyan, where she will give a speech as chief guest as part of her party's election campaign.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to Barisal after over five years has sparked excitement not only among party members but also resonated with the general public.
Notable figures, including General Secretary Obaidul Quader and Sheikh Hasina's younger sister, Sheikh Rehana, are expected to participate in the program.
