Awami League candidate alleges vandalism, attack by independent candidate

Noakhali-2 (Senbagh-Sonaimuri) constituency candidate Alhaj Morshed Alam has made various allegations, including assault and attempt to murder, against the independent candidate Ataur Rahman Manik.

He made the complaint at a press conference at Morshed Alam Complex in Chaumuhani, Noakhali on Thursday afternoon.

In the press conference, Morshed Alam said: "Independent candidate Ataur Rahman Manik orchestrated attacks, filed cases, attempted murders, and vandalized election offices. So far, one office in Senbagh and one in Sonaimuri have been vandalized and set on fire by his supporters.”

“Additionally, this candidate filed a case against 65 Awami League leaders and activists with BNP leader Abdur Rahman, who insulted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Ataur Rahman Manik is engaging in various activities to implement the Jamaat-BNP agenda and weaken Awami League.”

He further added: "Manik's activists attacked me intending to kill me. However, no accused has been arrested so far. Their motive behind all this is to prevent voters from going to the polling centres. Ataur Rahman Manik is planning various activities to disrupt the fair environment of the election.”
