Actor Mahiya Mahi was fined for violating the electoral code of conduct while campaigning in Tanore, Rajshahi on Sunday.
Mahi is contesting as an independent candidate from Rajshahi-1 constituency in the 12th national election.
Md Bilal Hossen, assistant returning officer, said Magistrate Abida Sifat fined Mahi Tk1,000 for using more loudspeakers than permitted.
Mahi used seven loudspeakers while campaigning at Gollapara bazar, although the electoral code of conduct allowed just three while campaigning, he added.
The ARO said that she breached Section 18(1) of the Electoral Code of Conduct.
