Awami League’s Dhaka-19 candidate Enamur Rahman has been accused of violating the electoral code of conduct by seeking votes after the Jummah prayer at a mosque in Savar on Friday.
A video shared on his Facebook profile shows that he was running his election campaign at the mosque.
Thanking the prime minister for nominating him thrice for the constituency, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman said: “Please offer your prayers for me so that God would grant me victory. I urge you to vote for the Boat as well.”
According to section 11(b) of the Rules of Conduct for Political Parties and Candidates in Parliamentary Elections, 2008, conducting any election campaign in any place of worship including a mosque, temple, or church is prohibited.
Also, a motorcade led by Enamur Rahman blocked the major route in the Shimulia of Savar to conduct an electoral campaign that also violated the electoral code of conduct.
