Independent candidate MP Jafar Alam suspended from Awami League

Cox's Bazar-1 constituency MP Jafar Alam, running in the upcoming election as an independent candidate after being denied a nomination by the Awami League, has been suspended from the party for violating organizational discipline. 

The decision was announced by the Chakaria Awami League on Wednesday.

A notice has been issued asking Jafar Alam why he should not be permanently expelled. If he does not respond to the notice within seven days, permanent expulsion will be considered. 

The notice was signed by Chakaria Awami League President Faridul Islam Chowdhury and Chakaria Awami League General Secretary Mujibur Rahman.

The notice says Jafar Alam, as the President of the Chakaria Upazila Awami League, has been suspended from his party position due to disrespectful behaviour and statements against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, amounting to a breach of organizational discipline.

Chakaria Awami League President Faridul Islam Chowdhury, confirmed this information, saying: "MP Jafar Alam has violated party discipline by making disrespectful behaviour and audacious remarks concerning Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, leading to this organizational action against him."
