Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman, an independent candidate from Habiganj-4 seat, has accused the current Member of Parliament of the constituency and State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali of election campaigning on “minister's protocol”.
At the same time, he expressed his fear of overnight voting in the upcoming national election scheduled on January 7.
Suman got the Eagle symbol as an independent candidate in this seat.
He expressed his apprehension to the journalists in front of the Habiganj deputy commissioner and returning officer's office after receiving his election symbol on Monday afternoon.
He said: "In other constituencies, one candidate is contesting against another candidate. I am not only contesting against a candidate, but also against a state minister who is still on protocol. He is using a police car. Ordinary people are afraid when they see the police. As the police are still with the state minister, it is feared the voting will be done at night.”
Referring to the Habiganj-4 seat as an important constituency, Sumon said: “This is the constituency of the State Minister Md Mahbub Ali. I have visited various places in my constituency as an independent candidate. I received a great response. It is a blessing for me.”
Regarding the response of the voters, Barrister Sumon said: "I got 20% love from the people in the constituency. The remaining 50% were oppressed in various ways by the state minister and his people. I hope to get the love (votes) of approximately 70% of people with these 50% and my 20%.”
