The ruling Awami League’s partners in the 14-party alliance will participate in the upcoming general election with the party’s electoral symbol, boat, but a decision on the sharing of seats has yet to be reached, Hasanul Haq Inu has said.
Inu, whose Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal is a member of the coalition, was speaking to reporters following a meeting with other partners on Sunday night.
“After the distribution of seats, candidates of each party can contest the polls with their own symbol from constituencies that have not been shared,” he added.
Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon said: “It has not been decided who will get which seat. [But] a long list has been shortened.”
The election would be acceptable to the whole world, he added.
Meanwhile, Syed Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari, chairman of the Bangladesh Tarikat Federation, said the decision on seat sharing would come by December 15.
