The inquiry committee formed by the Election Commission has issued a show-cause notice to Farhad Hossain, state minister for public administration and the Awami League-nominated candidate for Meherpur-1, for violating the electoral code of conduct.
Joint District and Sessions Judge HM Kabir Hossain, chairman of the committee, issued this notice through a letter on Sunday.
The committee ordered the state minister to explain his actions in writing at the court on Tuesday.
According to the letter, Farhad Hossain attended a rally in Meherpur Sadar upazila on Saturday, when he used a government vehicle and received police protection. According to the electoral code of conduct for political parties and candidates, ministers and lawmakers cannot enjoy any government benefits in election work.
