Nomination papers of Mashiur Rahaman Ranga suspended

Nomination papers of former Jatiya Party (JaPa) leader Mashiur Rahman Ranga, an independent candidate for Rangpur-1 constituency in the 12th parliamentary election, and three others were suspended on the first day of the nomination selection process.

The decision was made by Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Mobaswer Hasan due to inconsistencies in the submitted documents.

The other three candidates are – Shyamoli Rani of Bangladesh Congress, Bakhtiar Hossain of Workers' Party, and Sabuj Ahmed of Shangskritik Muktijot.

On the other hand, independent candidate Mosharraf Hossain had his nomination paper rejected due to an error in the voter signature section.

The nomination papers of seven candidates, including Awami League candidate Rezaul Karim Raju and Jatiya Party candidate Asif Shahriar, were declared valid by the returning officer after document scrutiny.
