Chunnu: JaPa did not find candidate in PM’s seat in Gopalganj

Jatiya Party (JaPa) did not find any candidates in several constituencies including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's seat in Gopalganj to contest in the upcoming 12th national parliamentary polls.

The party's Secretary General Md Mujibul Haque Chunnu said this while announcing the nominations at the party's office in the capital's Banani on Monday.

"We announced candidates for 289 constituencies. In two or three constituencies, we did not find any candidate and in the other constituencies, the party is yet to decide about the candidates as there were several candidates," he added.

The party also kept the Mymensingh-4 seat vacant for its chief patron, Raushan Ershad.

Before announcing the candidates, the Jatiya Party conducted interviews with prospective nominees from the Chittagong, Mymensingh, and Dhaka divisions starting at 11am on Sunday.

The party sold 1,752 nomination forms over four days, beginning on 21 November.
