GM Quader: JaPa to participate in special cabinet if govt forms any ahead of polls

Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman GM Quader has said that his party will participate in any election time “special or small cabinet" if the government forms such a platform.

The party is monitoring the pre-election situation, the JaPa chairman added after a meeting with the US pre-election monitoring team on Monday.

A joint International Republican Institute (IRI) and National Democratic Institute (NDI) pre-election assessment mission from the US held a meeting with a Jatiya Party delegation at Hotel Westin on Monday.

While responding to journalists, the JaPa leader said that the pre-election environment and electoral procedures were discussed with the US delegation in the meeting.

GM Quader further said that the Jatiya Party has given suggestions on how to prevent irregularities in elections.

"However, as there is uncertainty about the election, JaPa has shared some points to ensure everyone's participation," he said.

Responding to another query, he said the Jatiya Party has not yet decided whether to participate in the elections or not. “The electoral process was discussed. The party will decide to go to the election after observing the situation.”

He further said that his party will accept the government's proposal regarding the formation of a special or small cabinet during the elections and will participate in such a cabinet.
