Election Commissioner Md Anisur Rahman has said that the schedule for the 12th national election will be announced in November.
At this time, the commission will also launch an election management app.
He disclosed the information at the Election Commission building in Agargaon on Wednesday.
"If the election is to be held in December's last week or January's first week then the schedule will have to be announced in November. A preparation period of at least 40-45 days should be allowed for announcing the schedule," he said.
In that case, he mentioned the schedule announcement in December would be unlikely, hinting at a potential schedule for the second half of November.
Constitutionally, the Election Commission has to hold elections within 90 days before January 29, 2024. The countdown to the 12th parliamentary election will begin on November 1.
"The election management app is expected to be launched by November," he said.
As the 12th parliamentary elections draw near, the development of the Election Management App is in its concluding stages, aimed at offering a range of services encompassing online submission of nomination papers, voter details, party and candidate information, symbols, photos, and polling station particulars.
On July 30, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal said they would not publish the schedule before October.
