Dhaka-17 by-polls: Arafat promises to work for all if elected

Awami League's nominated candidate for Dhaka-17 constituency, Professor Mohammad A Arafat, has officially started his election campaign through two public meetings. In this, he promised to work for everyone irrespective of the party if he wins the election.

He made this promise in separate public meetings at Ershad School Ground (Karail) and Bhashantek in the constituency on Monday.

On this day, the returning officer Md Munir Hossain allocated symbols among the candidates in the Dhaka-17 seat by-election.

On the first day of the campaign, Mohammad A Arafat, said: “With the directions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh stands tall as a role model of development in the world today. Digital Bangladesh is visible today and we are already reaping its benefits.”

“Boats are symbols of development and progress. If I win the by-election, it is my moral duty to ensure all the civic benefits provided by the prime minister for all the people of Dhaka-17 constituency,” he added.

Pointing out that there was no balanced development in Dhaka-17 constituency due to various reasons, he said: “After a long time, the prime minister has assigned a person from Awami League to improve the fortunes of the people of this region. I promise, if I am elected as your representative, I will fulfil all my promises.”

Mohammad A Arafat said: “I will try to fulfil the duties given by Sheikh Hasina. For more than 20 years, there was no representative of Awami League in this constituency. Earlier, Farooq was there, but due to his long illness, it was not possible for him to continue his duties.”
