Islamic Andolan Bangladesh rejects BCC, KCC polls results

Islami Andolan Bangladesh on Monday rejected the results of the Barisal and Khulna city elections.

Besides, the party announced boycott of upcoming Sylhet and Rajshahi city elections as well.

Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, president of Islami Andolan Bangladesh made the announcement on Monday around 7:30pm.

He also demanded the resignation of the Chief Election Commission (CEC).

He said, due to irregularities in Barisal and Khulna city elections, the party is rejecting the election results. 

“Besides, I am announcing a boycott of Sylhet and Rajshahi city corporation elections. Islami Andolan Bangladesh will not give any candidates in these two city elections.”

Meanwhile, the ruling Awami League-nominated mayoral candidate Abul Khair Abdullah alias Khokon Serniabat has unofficially won in the Barisal City Corporation elections.

The results were published on Monday evening.

Abul Khair Abdullah received 87,752 votes while his nearest contender Islami Andolan Bangladesh's candidate Mufti Syed Mohammad Faizul Karim received 34,345 votes so far.

Voting for Barisal City Corporation (BCC) polls and Khulna City Corporation (KCC) polls were held from 8am-4pm on Monday.
