Former chairman of Baliakandi Upazila in Rajbari has taken away a chair, made at his own cost, from his former office to his home.
Nayeb Ali Sheikh was the Awami League candidate in the recently held UP polls. He lost to independent candidate Alamgir Biswas, and thus, had no chance to return to the chairman’s office.
To keep the memories of his chairmanship alive, Nayeb took the chair to his home.
Nayeb told Dhaka Tribune that he had built the chair at his own cost and thus felt free to take it home as a piece of memory. He also stated that he had not taken any chair and other furniture made at the cost of the office.
The newly-elected chairman, Alamgir Biswas, refuted the claims made by Nayeb Ali.
The acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer in Baliakandi, Hasibul Hasan, told Dhaka Tribune that he would check whether the chair had been made by the former chairman himself or not.
He, however, said that in no way someone could just take official furniture to home.
