Khulna Press Club demands release of DT journalist

Khulna Press Club's former treasurer and the Dhaka Tribune's Khulna correspondent Hedait Hossain Molla has been arrested by police in the district on Tuesday.

He was arrested in a case filed with Batiaghata police station under the Digital Security Act by an assistant returning officer. 

The assistant returning officer claims Hedait provided “untrue” information regarding the 11th general election.

A joint meeting of all journalists' organizations was held at the Khulna Press Club on Tuesday around 7pm to protest the arrest of Hedait.

The journalists present in the meeting expressed deep concern over  Hedait's arrest and called for his immediate release.

Khulna Press Club president SM Habib presided over the meeting, which was conducted by General Secretary Md Saheb Ali.

Among others, Ashraf-ul-Haq, Ahmad Ali Khan, Md Zakir Hossain, Mostafa Sarwar, Amiya Kanti Pal, Gourang Nandi, Kazi Motahar Rahman, Mozammel Haque Hawlader, Mizanur Rahman Milton, Mohammad Shah Alam, Hasan Ahmed Molla, were also present.
