Voting suspended in a Noakhali 3 polling centre

Voting has been suspended in a polling centre in Noakhali 3 constituency, minutes after polls opened, as unidentified men snatched ballots and other electoral items from the polling centre.

Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune on Sunday morning, Assistant Returning Officer Ruhul Amin said: “Electoral equipment has been looted from a polling centre in Babunagar Govt Primary School, under Sharifpur union of Begumganj upazila.”

Commenting on the incident, Awami League candidate Mamunur Rashid Kiron said: “BNP-Jamaat activists are behind the looting.”

Polling is currently taking place across the country for the 11th parliamentary elections.
